Technician exam question T1E06
Subelement T1, COMMISSION’S RULES· Group T1E · 47 CFR §97.301
When, other than during an emergency, may a Technician class licensee be the control operator of a station operating in an Amateur Extra Class band segment?
- A.At no time (correct answer)
- B.When designated as the control operator by an Amateur Extra Class licensee
- C.As part of a multi-operator contest team
- D.When using a club station whose trustee holds an Amateur Extra Class license
WhyOther than during an emergency, a Technician class licensee may never be the control operator of a station operating in an Amateur Extra Class band segment. §97.301 ties operating privileges to license class, and Technician licensees simply don't have privileges in the sub-bands reserved for Amateur Extra class operators, no arrangement with an Extra-class licensee, contest team, or club trustee's license changes that, since privileges follow the control operator's own class, answer A, at no time. This is a direct consequence of the same principle from T1E04: the control operator's own license, not anyone else's, sets what's allowed.
