Technician exam question T1E05
Subelement T1, COMMISSION’S RULES· Group T1E · 47 CFR §97.3(a)(14)
What is an amateur station’s control point?
- A.The location of the station’s transmitting antenna
- B.The location of the station’s transmitting apparatus
- C.The location at which the control operator function is performed (correct answer)
- D.The mailing address of the station licensee
WhyAn amateur station's control point is the location at which the control operator function is performed. §97.3(a)(14) defines the control point as the location from which the control operator actually exercises control over the station, which can be right next to the transmitter or, for remote-controlled stations, somewhere else entirely, answer C. The antenna location (A) and the transmitter's physical location (B) are both places equipment lives, not where control is exercised, and the licensee's mailing address (D) is an administrative detail unrelated to operation.
