Terms & Conditions
These terms govern your use of 73 Study (this site, at whatever domain it's published on). 73 Study is operated by a single individual, unincorporated, doing business under the name "73 Study," and referred to below as "we," "us," or "the operator." By using this site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the site.
What this site is
73 Study is a study site for the three US amateur radio license exams (Technician, General, Amateur Extra), built from the public domain NCVEC question pools with original explanations. Practice mode and per-subelement study are free, with no account required. Full simulated-exam mode and a spaced-repetition review queue are a paid tier, unlocked with a license key purchased through Lemon Squeezy. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of NCVEC, the FCC, ARRL, any Volunteer Examiner Coordinator, or any commercial test-prep company.
Accuracy disclaimer
Question text and answer choices come verbatim from the current public-domain NCVEC question pool for each license class; if this site's copy of a question ever disagrees with NCVEC's own published pool, NCVEC's pool is authoritative, not us. The explanation under each question is original writing, checked against the relevant FCC rule or technical concept, but we are not licensed instructors and this site is not a substitute for the ARRL license manual, a real study group, or 47 CFR Part 97 itself. We do our best to keep explanations accurate and pools current with NCVEC errata, but this site is provided for study purposes only, and we make no guarantee that using it will result in passing any exam or obtaining any license.
Accounts and your data
There is no account system. Your practice history, exam scores, and unlock state are stored only in your own browser's local storage; we don't have a copy and can't restore it if you clear your browser data or switch devices. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail on what limited data does reach us (hosting logs, contact-form submissions, and purchase records via Lemon Squeezy).
Intellectual property
NCVEC's question pools are public domain, and the question text and answer choices reproduced on this site stay that way; you're free to use that specific text however public-domain material allows. Everything else on this site that we wrote, explanations, study guide articles, glossary entries, page design, and code, is our copyrighted work (or used under license, in the case of third-party assets like fonts). You may read, use, and link to this site for personal study. You may not scrape, republish, or resell our explanations or original content as your own, in bulk or otherwise, without our prior written permission.
The paid tier and payments
The paid tier is sold through Lemon Squeezy, acting as merchant of record for the transaction; Lemon Squeezy's own terms of use govern the checkout and payment itself. A valid license key can be activated on up to five browsers or devices per purchase (this limit is set in Lemon Squeezy and may change); re-entering the same key on a new device re-activates it there and does not create an additional charge. License keys are for personal use; sharing, reselling, or publishing a license key you did not purchase is prohibited and may result in that key being deactivated.
Because this is a digital product delivered instantly on purchase, we do not offer refunds once a license key has been issued, except where required by applicable law or at our discretion for a genuine purchase problem (for example, a key that never arrived). Lemon Squeezy, as merchant of record, may also apply its own refund or chargeback handling independently of this policy; contact them directly for a payment-level dispute.
Acceptable use
Don't attempt to bypass, automate against, or reverse-engineer the license-key validation system; don't scrape the site at a volume that degrades it for other users; don't use the site for anything illegal. We may suspend or block access for use that violates these terms.
Third-party services
This site relies on third-party services to operate: Cloudflare (hosting), Web3Forms (the contact form), Lemon Squeezy (payments and license validation), and, once activated, Google AdSense (advertising). Each operates under its own terms and privacy policy, linked from our Privacy Policy. We aren't responsible for those services' own conduct, outages, or policies.
Disclaimer of warranties
This site is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose. Study content is provided for educational purposes only.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this site, including a failed exam attempt. For the paid tier specifically, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you actually paid for your license key.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the site changes, for example when a new feature or payment method is added. The "last updated" date above will reflect any change; continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the revised terms.
Severability
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
