What is the recommended way to break into a phone contact?
- A.Say “QRZ” several times, followed by your call sign
- B.Say your call sign once (correct answer)
- C.Say “Breaker Breaker”
- D.Say “CQ” followed by the call sign of either station
WhyThe recommended way to break into an ongoing phone contact is to say your own call sign once during a pause. Standard practice for breaking into an ongoing phone contact is simply to say your own call sign once during a pause, letting the operators already talking recognize that someone wants in, answer B. CB-style "breaker breaker" isn't amateur radio practice, repeating "QRZ" is something the station being called says, not the breaking station, and "CQ" is for calling a fresh, general contact, not interrupting an existing one.
