Which mode of voice communication is most commonly used on the HF amateur bands?
- A.Frequency modulation
- B.Double sideband
- C.Single sideband (correct answer)
- D.Single phase modulation
WhySingle sideband is the most common voice mode used on the HF amateur bands. Single sideband is by far the most common voice mode across the HF amateur bands, more compact and popular for long-distance phone work than FM (which needs more bandwidth and doesn't propagate well via skywave) or double sideband (which wastes power and bandwidth on a redundant sideband and carrier), answer C. "Single phase modulation" isn't a real mode name.
