G2A03
Which mode is most commonly used for SSB voice communications in the VHF and UHF bands?
- A.Upper sideband (correct answer)
- B.Lower sideband
- C.Suppressed sideband
- D.Double sideband
WhyUpper sideband is the convention for SSB voice on the VHF and UHF bands, the same rule that applies above 10 MHz on HF. Even on VHF and UHF, where SSB is far less common than FM, the amateur convention still calls for upper sideband when SSB voice is used, the same USB-above-10-MHz rule that applies on the higher HF bands, answer A. Lower sideband is the convention below 10 MHz only, not above it.
