What is the approximate bandwidth required to transmit a CW signal?
- A.2.4 kHz
- B.150 Hz (correct answer)
- C.1000 Hz
- D.15 kHz
WhyA CW signal requires an approximate bandwidth of 150 Hz. A CW signal, a simple on/off keyed tone, needs only about 150 Hz of bandwidth to be transmitted and copied cleanly, answer B. 2.4 kHz (A) is closer to an SSB voice signal's bandwidth, and 1000 Hz and 15 kHz (C, D) are both considerably wider than CW actually requires.
