T8A05
Which of the following signal types has the narrowest bandwidth?
- A.FM voice
- B.SSB voice
- C.CW (correct answer)
- D.Slow-scan TV
WhyCW has the narrowest bandwidth of the common signal types. CW needs only enough bandwidth to convey an on/off keyed tone, giving it the narrowest bandwidth of the choices listed, roughly 150 Hz, answer C. FM voice (A) and slow-scan TV (D) both need several kilohertz to carry their information, and SSB voice (B), while narrower than FM, still needs roughly 3 kHz to carry intelligible speech, far more than CW requires.
