How is battery operating time calculated?
- A.Average current divided by capacity in amp-hours
- B.Average current divided by internal resistance
- C.Capacity in amp-hours divided by average current (correct answer)
- D.Internal resistance divided by average current
WhyBattery operating time is calculated as capacity in amp-hours divided by average current. Battery operating time is found by dividing the battery's capacity in amp-hours by the average current the load draws, giving the number of hours the battery can sustain that average load, answer C. Dividing average current by capacity, or bringing internal resistance into the calculation at all, doesn't give a meaningful operating-time figure the way this straightforward capacity-over-current calculation does.
