What logical operation does a NAND gate perform?
- A.It produces a 0 at its output only if all inputs are 0
- B.It produces a 1 at its output only if all inputs are 1
- C.It produces a 0 at its output if some but not all inputs are 1
- D.It produces a 0 at its output only if all inputs are 1 (correct answer)
WhyA NAND gate produces a 0 at its output only if all inputs are 1. A NAND gate outputs a 0 only when every one of its inputs is a 1, the inverted complement of a plain AND gate, answer D. It doesn't output 0 only when all inputs are 0, doesn't require all inputs be 1 to output a 1 (a NAND does the opposite), and doesn't output 0 just because some but not all inputs are 1.
