Technician exam question T1F05
Subelement T1, COMMISSION’S RULES· Group T1F · 47 CFR §97.119(b)(2)
What method of call sign identification is required for a station transmitting phone signals?
- A.Send the call sign followed by the indicator RPT
- B.Send the call sign using a CW or phone emission (correct answer)
- C.Send the call sign followed by the indicator R
- D.Send the call sign using only a phone emission
WhyA station transmitting phone signals may identify by sending the call sign using either a CW or a phone emission. Also under §97.119(b)(2), a station transmitting phone signals may identify using either a CW or a phone emission, Morse code identification is explicitly allowed even during an otherwise all-voice contact, answer B. A and C both invent identifying "indicators" (RPT, R) that aren't part of the actual identification method, and D wrongly restricts identification to phone only when CW is also permitted.
