Technician exam question T1F02
Subelement T1, COMMISSION’S RULES· Group T1F · 47 CFR §97.119(a)
How often must you identify with your FCC-assigned call sign when using tactical call signs such as “Race Headquarters”?
- A.Never, the tactical call is sufficient
- B.Once every hour
- C.At least every 10 minutes during and at the end of a communication (correct answer)
- D.At the end of every transmission
WhyYou must identify with your FCC-assigned call sign at least every 10 minutes during and at the end of a communication, even when using tactical call signs. §97.119(a) requires your FCC-assigned call sign at least every ten minutes during a contact and at its end, and that requirement doesn't go away just because you're also using an informal tactical call sign like "Race Headquarters" for clarity during an event, the tactical call supplements your legal identification, it never replaces it, answer C. A wrongly assumes the tactical call is sufficient by itself, and B and D use the wrong interval.
