Technician exam question T1B10
Subelement T1, COMMISSION’S RULES· Group T1B · 47 CFR §97.305(c)
Where may SSB phone be used in amateur bands above 50 MHz?
- A.Only in sub-bands allocated to General class or higher licensees
- B.Only on repeaters
- C.In at least some segment of all these bands (correct answer)
- D.On any band if the power is limited to 25 watts
WhySSB phone may be used in at least some segment of every amateur band above 50 MHz. §97.305(c) authorizes SSB phone somewhere within essentially every amateur band above 50 MHz, not confined to repeaters or to General-and-above sub-bands, answer C. A wrongly raises the license-class bar, B ignores that SSB is used directly between stations as well as through repeaters, and D invents a power-based exception that isn't in the rule.
