Technician exam question T1B07
Subelement T1, COMMISSION’S RULES· Group T1B · 47 CFR §97.305(a), (c)
T1B07 · §97.305(a), (c)
Which of the following VHF/UHF band segments are limited to CW only?
- A.50.0 MHz to 50.1 MHz and 144.0 MHz to 144.1 MHz (correct answer)
- B.219 MHz to 220 MHz and 420.0 MHz to 420.1 MHz
- C.902.0 MHz to 902.1 MHz
- D.All these choices are correct
Why50.0 MHz to 50.1 MHz and 144.0 MHz to 144.1 MHz are limited to CW only. §97.305(a) and (c) designate the bottom 100 kHz of certain VHF/UHF bands, 50.0-50.1 MHz on 6 meters and 144.0-144.1 MHz on 2 meters, as CW-only segments, traditionally used for weak-signal and DX work, answer A. The 219-220 MHz and 902.0-902.1 MHz segments in B and C don't carry that same CW-only restriction, so D is also wrong.
