G7C02
What output is produced by a balanced modulator?
- A.Frequency modulated RF
- B.Audio with equalized frequency response
- C.Audio extracted from the modulation signal
- D.Double-sideband modulated RF (correct answer)
WhyA balanced modulator produces double-sideband modulated RF. A balanced modulator combines an audio signal with a carrier and cancels out the carrier itself, leaving both the upper and lower sidebands present in the output, which is why its output is described as double-sideband modulated RF, answer D. It doesn't produce FM, and since it's an RF modulator, not a demodulator, it doesn't output equalized or extracted audio, so A, B, and C are wrong.
