General exam question G1A10
Subelement G1, COMMISSION’S RULES· Group G1A · 47 CFR §97.205(b)
What portion of the 10-meter band is available for repeater use?
- A.The entire band
- B.The portion between 28.1 MHz and 28.2 MHz
- C.The portion between 28.3 MHz and 28.5 MHz
- D.The portion above 29.5 MHz (correct answer)
WhyOnly the portion of the 10-meter band above 29.5 MHz is available for repeater use. FCC §97.205(b) reserves the portion of 10 meters above 29.5 MHz for repeater operation, the only segment of the band set aside for that use, answer D. The rest of 10 meters, including the ranges named in B and C, is used for simplex phone, CW, and other modes, not repeaters, and repeaters certainly aren't permitted across the entire band as A claims.
