E5A12
What is the half-power bandwidth of a resonant circuit that has a resonant frequency of 3.7 MHz and a Q of 118?
- A.436.6 kHz
- B.218.3 kHz
- C.31.4 kHz (correct answer)
- D.15.7 kHz
WhyA resonant circuit with a resonant frequency of 3.7 MHz and a Q of 118 has a half-power bandwidth of about 31.4 kHz. Half-power bandwidth equals resonant frequency divided by Q, and 3.7 MHz divided by 118 comes out to approximately 31,356 Hz, or 31.4 kHz, answer C. The other figures come from doubling or halving that result incorrectly rather than performing the direct division.
