What is the half-power bandwidth of a resonant circuit that has a resonant frequency of 7.1 MHz and a Q of 150?
- A.157.8 Hz
- B.315.6 Hz
- C.47.3 kHz (correct answer)
- D.23.67 kHz
WhyA resonant circuit with a resonant frequency of 7.1 MHz and a Q of 150 has a half-power bandwidth of about 47.3 kHz. Half-power bandwidth equals the resonant frequency divided by Q, so 7.1 MHz divided by 150 works out to about 47,333 Hz, or 47.3 kHz, answer C. Dividing incorrectly or misplacing a decimal point produces the smaller hertz-range or the 23.67 kHz figures instead of the correct result.
