Which is equal to 500 milliwatts?
- A.5 watts
- B.0.5 watts (correct answer)
- C.500,000 watts
- D.500,000,000 watts
Why500 milliwatts is equal to 0.5 watts. A milliwatt is one-thousandth of a watt, so 500 milliwatts equals 500 divided by 1000, or 0.5 watts, answer B. A is off by a factor of ten, and C and D both mistakenly treat "milli" as a multiplier rather than a fraction, landing many orders of magnitude too high.
