General exam question G4C01
Subelement G4, AMATEUR RADIO PRACTICES· Group G4C
Which of the following might be useful in reducing RF interference to audio frequency circuits?
- A.Bypass inductor
- B.Bypass capacitor (correct answer)
- C.Forward-biased diode
- D.Reverse-biased diode
WhyA bypass capacitor can help reduce RF interference to audio frequency circuits. A bypass capacitor provides a low-impedance path to ground for stray RF energy that has found its way into an audio circuit, shunting it away before it can be amplified as interference, answer B. An inductor does the opposite of a bypass capacitor at RF, and forward- or reverse-biased diodes aren't used this way to divert RF from audio wiring.
