General exam question G1E07
Subelement G1, COMMISSION’S RULES· Group G1E · 47 CFR §97.111
In what part of the 2.4 GHz band may an amateur station communicate with non-licensed Wi-Fi stations?
- A.Anywhere in the band
- B.Channels 1 through 4
- C.Channels 42 through 45
- D.No part (correct answer)
WhyThere is no part of the 2.4 GHz band where an amateur station may legally communicate with non-licensed Wi-Fi stations. §97.111 restricts amateur stations to communicating with other amateur or otherwise authorized stations, and non-licensed Wi-Fi equipment in the 2.4 GHz band doesn't qualify, so there's no part of that band where an amateur station may legally exchange communications with it, answer D. Nothing in the rules opens specific channels for that kind of cross-service contact.
