General exam question G1C02
Subelement G1, COMMISSION’S RULES· Group G1C · 47 CFR §97.313
What is the maximum transmitter power an amateur station may use on the 12-meter band?
- A.50 watts PEP output
- B.200 watts PEP output
- C.1500 watts PEP output (correct answer)
- D.An effective radiated power equivalent to 100 watts from a half-wave dipole
WhyThe 12-meter band carries the standard 1500 watts PEP output limit, since it isn't one of the power-restricted WARC bands. 12 meters isn't one of the power-restricted WARC bands (only 30 meters carries that special 200-watt cap), so the standard 1500 watts PEP output limit under §97.313 applies here just like most other HF bands, answer C. 50 and 200 watts in A and B are both well under what's actually allowed, and D describes an equivalent-ERP calculation that isn't how this particular limit works.
