Which of the following types of signals can be relayed through a linear transponder?
- A.FM and CW
- B.SSB and SSTV
- C.PSK and packet
- D.All these choices are correct (correct answer)
WhyA linear transponder can relay FM and CW, SSB and SSTV, or PSK and packet signals equally, since it simply translates whatever mode falls within its passband. A linear transponder simply translates whatever signal falls within its passband from the uplink frequency to the downlink frequency without demodulating it, so it can relay FM and CW, SSB and SSTV, or PSK and packet just as readily, since it doesn't care what mode is riding inside the passband, answer D. Because the transponder is mode-agnostic by design, no single mode-pair on its own is the complete answer.
